After the launch of Spotify in Israel, Romania, South Africa and Vietnam last March, the world’s largest music streaming subscription service should announce next week some changes in its mobile app during an event.
Spotify should announce on the 24th April in New-York, a new free version of its streaming service and make it easier to use particularly on mobile devices, according to the Bloomberg report. This change is based on the request of users to give them more freedom.
For the moment, users can select a playlist or an album, but they have no choice but to listen to it randomly. Also, users can’t change music tracks more than 6 times an hour.
The goal was to encourage users to subscribe to the $9,99/month Spotify plan, but the expenses incurred force them to attract more customers.
With the new update of its free version, Spotify hopes to grow from the current 71 million subscribers to over 96 million by the end of the year and reach over 200 million current users.
Rumors say that the company could launch at this event a smart speaker to compete with the Google Home and the Apple HomePod.
Now we have to wait and see what will happen on this April 24!
