OnePlus 6 pre-sale events slated for May 21 and 22 in 26 cities worldwide.
OnePlus, an internationally recognized smartphone company, announced the May 2, it is bringing the OnePlus 6 direct to consumers through pop-up stores in 26 cities worldwide on May 21 and 22. In its fourth year, pop-up events have given OnePlus fans the chance to be first to own the company’s much buzzed about phones ahead of the official sale dates. Purchases made after May 22 will be done online via their website and shipped to buyers.
“From the very beginning, OnePlus fans have not only been a driving force behind our “Never Settle” mantra, but they have helped build the absolute best smartphones possible,” said Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus. « The pop-up stores are one way we ensure fans are an inclusive part of everything we do and to make them feel like our top priority, because they are. »
While the direct-to-consumer model has not been successful for most smartphone brands, OnePlus defied all odds beginning with its first smartphone in 2014. More than 1.5 million OnePlus One phones were sold, surpassing the company’s initial expectations of shipping a quarter of that amount.
The following year, more than three million fans signed up for an invite to purchase the OnePlus Two without ever having held it firsthand. In response, OnePlus hosted its first pop-up store events to give more fans hands-on time with its devices. Several years later, the pop-up stores continue to be a successful model that have grown from nine pop-up stores in 2015 to 40 stores in 2017.
